INTERNATIONAL LINES

Each of the seven German towns, the three Swiss areas, and the Australian line listed below may be related to one or more of the above American lines.  Several seem to have had at least a minimal Huguenot influence.   The Canton of Solothurn, represented here by the parishes of Matzendorf and Oberdorf, may be the original home of many of the German Florys, including Joseph Flory of the C-Line. The Australian line descended from emigrants from St. Ilgen.

Thanks to Pierre-Jean Vambré for the information on the Maria Catharina Flory (or Fleuris, Fleures, Florie) and the link to his genealogy page.  This is a line new to these pages.  Uncertainty exists at this time (February 2013) as to where her line may link into the overall picture.  Pierre-Jean advises “my ancestor was Maria Catharina Flory (or Fleuris, Fleures, Florie) in The Netherlands in the middle of the 18th century.   Her father Lucas Fleuris, soldier, was from Maastricht (unfortunately, his birth certificate doesn’t exist in the archives).  Maria Catharina Flory married my ancestor Joannes Henricus van Bree (born in Nijmegen) in France in 1774″.  He advises that he is composing an article on the line which will be posted when he is finished.

Please advise if you find these foreign lines at all helpful in your research and an effort will be made to publish more on this page.
